I'm Back, Redux

Ok, so after all the upgrades in the last post, I neglected to mention the biggest--moving! We're in a good, solid, owned house again, after years of renting. Ok, no, I did not buy the house. Cowboying and photography don't pay near enough (yet) to afford anything that isn't a cardboard box on Colfax out here in Denver, so Sawyer and I are still playing the part of entrepreneurial moochers with my parents. I get a fair amount of grief from various persons over that, who think I'm just sitting on my ass with a hand out. That's so far from the truth I can't even being to laugh enough. There's something to be said for swallowing one's pride in exchange for getting out of debt and being able to start from a clean slate, versus barely treading the financial waters just to have something for appearances sake. To each their own though. For the time being, I'm enjoying all the flowers and the waterfall that we have in the backyard. Ready made backdrop once it all gets fully put together!

There was a big Harley event called Colorado Hog Rally the other week and I went to go set up a booth. The weather was being, well, Colorado weather, sunny one minute, raining with gale winds the next, then back again, so the amount of bikes that came out was much smaller than anticipated. There were still some interesting characters, such as the guy who owned the below bike. He also had airbrushed on part of the Declaration of Independence onto his tank and affixed a plaque with the Founding Father's Oath of Service. Then proceeded to show me the copy of the Constitution he liked to hand out to people, point out his signature that he had added and then say that either he was really old, or it was as much of a fake as Obama's birth certificate. That's where the smile, nod and walk away comes in really handy.

What a Tea Party member likes to ride.

The advertising for the vendor section was pretty non-existent as well, but we all made our own fun regardless.

I got to swoon over this wee adorabeagle!

And because there was so much free time, I started playing around with the token baby and seeing if I could get anything decent for her being of the two-legged human variety.

Most Chill Baby Ever Award goes to...

Baby blues

Two days in a tent, in the heat, with a ton of bikes and commotion and I never heard one fussing squall out of her. If I could somehow copy/clone this kid for my own, I might be a little more persuaded to change my position on spawning.

Between moving, riding, networking and trying to steal some time with Ted the Engineer Boyfriend, I haven't gotten to spend a lot of time with Sawyer. We did manage to make it out to the huge park up north for the Solstice.

I swear that is his coat blowing in the wind that's making him look so big/fat/fluffy

We had a nice surprise waiting for us.

WATER!

In the two-ish years I've been going to this park, I have yet to see a drop of water in the canal. Sawyer was well chuffed at the change though, because that meant not only did he have the muddy pond to jump into, he could dive off the bank and splash through to get to the other side.

I'm a wet dog!

Wet dogs with longer coats make funny.

The Summer of Getting Into Shape is going well. Saddling up 27 horses does wonders for the arms, mounting a tall horse is making my left leg look awesome and hiking is attempting to make my right leg match the left. Frisbee is taking care of my core, what with all the sprinting and cutting and running and dying from lack of oxygen thanks to you forgetting where you put your working pair of lungs...but that's getting better as well. I bet if I went back to Kansas and played, I'd run circles around everyone. Hooray altitude! Anyway, as soon as I figure out how to stop being radioactive white (i.e. I glow and throw off the white balance in photos right now, especially since my arms are really tan but the rest of me...is not.), I think I can feel good about being in a bikini again.

I should have more Aussie puppy pictures on Thursday, as I'm going up to Ft. Collins to photograph a friend's newest addition. We're trading photos and tilapia for beer and more beer, maybe some organ meats or some other such things. Raw is so much fun to feed, just because I like grossing people out. My new neighbors can't quite figure out what to think when Sawyer comes trotting out of the house with half a chicken in his mouth and just nonchalantly lays down and starts gnawing on it.

I'm easily amused, what can I say?

At least I didn't go through with my devious plan to use the baby to give a friend a heart attack...

Upgrades

Hoooooly crap it's been a while since I last posted, hasn't it? Sorry 'bout that. Here's my farrier's new Aussie pup as an appeasement offering.

It's been interesting in the computer realm as of late, first my laptop's power supply died and there was more discrepancy than there should have been as to what model I needed to replace it, so I just said screw it and got a whole new machine. I needed to upgrade my OS anyway and the other laptop was less than happy as of late about trying to keep up with my ADD. That took awhile to get here, as it had to ship from overseas and Japan had just had the earthquake, so that messed up shipping lines for a little bit or something; it got here when I was out of town meeting Ted's extended family. Lovely people they are, too! I'll get to that in a second though.

So I get the laptop, get everything all moved over and it's great. Then I go petsitting for a friend who was getting married and going on his honeymoon. Said friend has three dogs, including one of my nemisis breeds.

I'm coming to torment youuuuu...

Weims and I just...don't get along. Throw in the fact that he's the spoiled child of the bunch and yeah. It was an interesting three weeks. And I didn't have my laptop for most of it, because SOMEONE thought it would a super good idea to dump a cup of coffee all over it because they wanted to carry a freaking styrofoam cup around instead of the Kong they had in their mouth when I got up to go to the bathroom.

This is me, not caring.

The keyboard shorted out and I was left staring at a brand-new, rather expensive paperweight.

I think the fact that Parker is still alive should be a testament to my candidacy for the Nobel Peace Prize.

The last upgrade recently has been the camera itself. Everything in this post is courtesy of my (new to me) Nikon D80. A friend was selling her kit off to defect to the Canon side and I happened to have a bit of money at the time, so voila. New camera, new lenses, it's all good in the neighborhood. The D50 I sold to my friend Renee over at Good Kharma Tags. She's got a bunch of old Nikon lenses and I'm really anxious to see how they work out; the body is backwards compatible, so it's just a matter of getting her to use the thing now!

Since I now have two new lenses that cover the range my Quantaray does, I'm selling that off. Quantaray 18-200mm f5.6/6.3 with a Nikon mount. Email me if you're interested. Price will depend on how much I like you. Just kidding! It's going for $150 (retailed for $300+ new).

So we'll make that the quickie update for now. I've been doing a ton of networking, event shooting (more photos are up over at CDP ), traded out Passion Parties for Scentsy (more on that later) and now the stables have opened back up, so I'm on horseback a handful of days a week again. Just that alone has made me feel like a giant weight has been lifted off my shoulders; 4-legged Zen therapy it is!

It was a good weekend

Maybe it's a manic phase, maybe it's just being happy that I can move almost like normal again, I don't really care. All I know is that last night I had a $1000+ sales party with a Passion Party and I woke up this morning full of vim and vigor and got right down to work.

Accomplishments of the weekend:

Friday:
  •  Made it to the First Friday Art Walk, schmoozed with some artists, realized that what is getting put up in galleries and selling for a decent amount of cash isn't so much different from my work and in many cases, involved significant amounts of Photoshop. Also, was introduced to a Very Important Contact as far as getting my stuff put up. As in, Director of Art something or other...I was in the midst of a horrible muscle spasm and extreme amounts of pain while we were talking, so some details are a bit blurry. I did get her card though!
  • Got pulled over doing 18 mph over because I didn't realize the stupid HHR was going as fast as it was. It's so weird how you learn to sort of tell the speed your going by the feel of the car? Haven't figured that one out yet for this thing and don't really intend to since it's a rental. Why is this good? I got off with a warning even though the officer originally told me I was getting a ticket. No, I didn't flirt or flash my way out of that one. I was in too much pain at the time and just wanted to go lie down with some sort of drug, preferably the bottle of red wine I had in the back seat. My streak of never getting a speeding ticket remains unbroken! *knockonwood*
  • Had that bottle of red wine in the company of Engineer Boyfriend, which did wonders for both physical and mental healing. Things are just better when we're together and we haven't gotten to see each other nearly enough lately, between me being crippled and him doing the whole Master's Degree thing. I can't wait until Spring Break two weeks from now when we're taking a very long road trip together!
Saturday

  • Spent most of it basking in the warmth of EB's regard, enjoying a good bowl of pho and watching EB repot a bunch of his plants. He has a lot of them. I think it's incredibly sexy.
  • Had an amazing party, even if I did mess up on the time and show up an hour late. I love earning multiple hundreds of dollars in just a couple of hours for what basically boils down to girl talk!
  • Went to the bank like a muthafarkin' ADULT!
  • Placed all the orders last night before the specials ran out
  • Finished editing the photos from the Pug Tune-up the other week--FINALLY. Between my back going "fuck you" to the idea of sitting upright for more than brief periods of time and the muscle relaxers giving coherency the finger, these took a LOT longer than they normally do. Everyone was very understanding of the circumstances though.
 Sunday
  • Did my laundry
  • HUNG UP MY LAUNDRY
  • CLEANED ALL THE THINGS (i.e. my room AND cleaned the bathroom as well!)
  • Found $5 in the process. Seriously.
  • Even loaded the dishwasher--this was all before noon, mind you. I felt like I deserved a medal. Doing much of anything before noon (like getting out of bed) is usually a cause for celebration, never mind being productive!
  • Decided to take the better part of the day off, hung out over at a friend's house, got my hair cut and lounged around watching Tosh.O for the first time, with a steady supply of Bloody Mary's and White Russians in tow.
  • Booked another rescue for photos AND got them set up for a Scentsy fundraiser! If you're looking for a way to do some good and get some tangible good out of it, this is a good way to do it. I'll post the link tomorrow to the online party.
  • Wrote this blog!
And now that I just realized 2am is rapidly encroaching and I have an 11am business enhancement lunch thingy, I should probably go to bed. LIKE AN ADULT.

And a week later...

I still have no idea what is going on as far as being "made whole" from this whole shebang. The only things I've heard from anyone has been "Can we get a statement from you for our records?" and "She's gone for the day, can she call you tomorrow?" None of which are helping or were helping my mood much. The doc I saw the day after the wreck showed me that nothing was fractured on the xrays, wrote me out a couple of prescriptions and shooed me out the door with instructions to go to the ER if I suddenly lost motor control.

Since then, I've been walking around feeling like there was a giant fist between my neck and shoulder blades, meaning I couldn't sit at my desk for long enough periods of time to get much accomplished--oh the giant pile of photos I need to still edit from the Pug Meetup the other week-- nor could I go out and take photos to promote CrazyDog Photography. I just couldn't move like I needed to (trying to explain to insurance call center hacks just what I do was harder than it should have been) and because not being able to really turn my head to the left made driving not the best idea. Add to that the whole "I feel so stoned" daze I was wandering around in from the muscle relaxers and this last week has not been the most productive ever. Some people kept telling me that was just how whiplash went, to keep popping the pills and eventually I'd knit myself back together. So I could either not take my pills and hurt like hell --Advil just couldn't keep up--or take the pills and stare at the same picture for three hours, assuming I wasn't just passed out. These little babies kept their sedative effect FOREVER.

What a choice.

There was an interesting debate on my Facebook page about medical doctors vs. holistic healers i.e. chiropractors and massage therapists. Basically it boiled down to "pills vs. woo woo". There were a couple of die-hards saying that medical doctors were the only valid option and chiropractors just told you what you wanted to hear. The other side was saying chiros/MT actually put you back together and MD's just want to throw a prescription at you and wish you the best. After this week, I'm siding with the latter half. I finally gave up trying to get ahold of the insurance people and just went to a lady who had been very highly recommended. She spent more time talking to me, getting my history, where it hurt, how could I move, all that jazz than the MD ever did. And you know what, after just one session and a couple of good cracks, I CAN LOOK TO THE LEFT NOW. I'm not limping because of how tight one side of my back had become. I haven't had to take a single pill, not even Advil, all day long. There's still pain, there's still obviously some healing that needs to go on, but I feel like I can function a little bit more. I'm still moving pretty carefully, but I could actually brush Sawyer tonight without wanting to cry and needing to stop after just a few minutes.

Tonight, I can actually enjoy a glass of the Scotch I got for Christmas. I don't have to worry how it's going to interact with my pills. Now that is progress, my friends. Lawl.

Sorry for the lack of pictures, but again, not being able to really move hasn't enticed me to pick up the camera this last week. I was able to go sit for some headshots the other day, courtest of my friends Marc and Monica with On The Marc Photography . This is SOCC, I haven't picked which ones I want edited yet. I am less than proficient in Photoshopery (read: I kind of suck at it beyond your basic levels and cropping) so I'm leaving all the adjustments and tweaks up to the eminently capable Monica.

So just hold your horses.

Obviously this is not going to be used as "The Face of CDP/Passion Parties/Scentsy" but I thought it was a good picture anyway.

Oh yeah, I don't have enough going on with everything else, didn't you know? So to fill those last few spare minutes I have each week, I decided to add "Scentsy Rep" to my plate. This is more to indulge my love of candles and such and to add a nice little incentive to some of the bigger picture packages I offer to my clients. And they have this nifty option of basket parties, so I don't have to drive all over hill and dale, nor does everyone have to try and wrangle their friends into one spot at one time and need to vacuum on top of it. And they're expanding over to the UK and Germany next month and I don't know about you, but getting to count a trip overseas as a business expense sounds like a pretty good thing to me. I've had standing invites to come visit  in Scotland, Wales and Germany, I think I should take them up on it. The point is, this isn't going to take up a tremendous amount of time and I can continue to focus on making CDP into the full-time gig everyone is saying it should be.

Cross your collective fingers I hear back from insurance soon and it's with a good offer. I just want to replace the RAV with a twin, but if I can get a decent 4Runner out of the deal, I'm not going to argue.

This and that

This is what my car used to look like:

This is what my car looks like now:

That is what the rental agency gave me for the interim.

And this is what I'll be driving next.

 ????????????????

I have no idea how much I'm going to get from insurance (they've already totaled out the RAV) and that's making it a little difficult to start searching for something. Part of me just wants to get another RAV, slightly newer. It was essentially the perfect vehicle for me, drove nicely for long distances, good on gas, plenty of room for stuff and dogs. Another part of me just wants to try and find an upgrade, either Highlander or 4Runner, or perhaps something not Toyota at all. I just can't quite make up my mind.

Oh, what happened, you ask? It was the weirdest thing, Harry Potter and friends showed up on their broomsticks, completely slizzered and were playing chicken with the traffic. Harry Potter is a dick. He was even texting and flying at the same time.

At least that's my idea of why the guy behind me never even put on his brakes before slamming into the back of me when all the other traffic was nearly stopped. You'd think a sea of red tail lights would be some sort of indication that perhaps you should SLOW DOWN just a bit? So I was nearly stopped, the guy in front of me was nearly stopped, the other guy stopped when he ran into the back of me, which then shoved my car into the guy in front. It was a sandwich with me as the filling. It wasn't nearly as fun as other people had made it out to be. "Oh, being a sandwich is AWESOME!"  Bunch of liars, the whole lot of them!

The guy in front of me was fine and drove home. I'm dealing with your typical whiplash  and have performed last rites over the Passion/Puppymobile. The guy who hit me got pretty knocked around by his airbags or something, was taken to the hospital and his car is resting in pieces next to mine at the city lot.

Oddly--and thankfully--the pros of this situation have outweighed the cons.

 The cons:
  • I just paid the damn off TWO WEEKS AGO. I don't even have the title yet.
  • I just put new tires on it three weeks ago. There weren't even 500 miles on them.
  • This is the absolute worst time for this to happen, in terms of budgeting.

The pros:
  • Sawyer was not with me
  • Sawyer was not with me.
  • Sawyer was not with me.
  • Engineer Boyfriend was not with me (nor anyone else).
  • Neither were my laptop or camera.
  • I'm not really hurt, considering.
  • It was a smaller car that hit me, not the 18-wheeler that was in the lane next to me.
  • I have full coverage.
  • The other guy has insurance as well
  • Sawyer was not with me.
I keep having minor panic attacks thinking of how very different this situation and blog post would be if he had been in his normal spot, which is curled up in the front passenger seat. He might have been ok if for some reason he was curled up in his other favorite spot, which is the little footwell directly behind my seat. However, given that the force of the rear impact popped off a bunch of paneling and sent it flying, he still would have most likely been injured in some way. I can't let myself think of what would have happened if he had been in the front, I'll bloody lose it.

I would have been just as frantic if anyone else was with me, but they would have had on their seatbelts and such and most likely been just a bit banged around like I am. My airbags didn't go off, so there was that as well.

I've also decided that I hate years I turn an age that ends in "9". When I was 9 years old, a daycare worker tripped me as I was playing tag with some other kids, which screwed up my knee and it still gives me problems to this day. When I turned 19, I rear-ended a lady when she stopped for far too long at a random light (none of the other drivers were stopped) and I slid on the rain-slick roads right into the back of her Ford Tempo. Nasty whiplash from that one, but both cars were fine (hers barely had a scratch on it). Now I'm turning 29 this year and this happens. Any guesses as to what 39 is going to bring?

I had just detailed the car last week, so there wasn't a lot of extraneous stuff to pull out. One of the things I did find stuffed under the driver's seat was the Ruff Rider car harness I'd gotten for him years ago and never really use. I took the backseats out of the RAV years ago and I don't really have seatbelts in the back anymore anyway, thanks to a certain black dog. With this next car, depending on what it is, there is always going to be at least one seat left in/up in the back and Mr.Intrepid Aussie is going to be buckled up for safety like the rest of us. Losing him in a wreck is not going to be my "Year 39" event, because he's going to live forever anyway.

Quick Miracle Update: He's up to 70lbs and has been in foster care for the last few weeks!

(photo courtesy of Miracle's foster home with IDR+)

He's looking like a real dog now! He's still got a ways to go, but he's getting there.

I haven't had a lot of time lately to go out with the camera. It's either been -24F (that's without windchill, kids), snowing or I've been up to my eyeballs with business stuff. I've set my sales goal for this month at $12,000 so I can get a free iPad from Passion Parties, plus my team is in a contest to have me pay for them to go on a 4 day cruise to the Bahamas this fall, so coaching calls are high up on the To-Do list. Add to that some work I've been doing for my dad, setting up photo sessions and my limited ability to get out of bed before 10am and the day just sort of gets away from you. Oh and then there's the whole "holy crap, I have an actual social life!"...

Although, one surefire way to guarantee getting up on time seems to involve eating some little smokies after the Superbowl, losing a filling in the process and wondering just how soon you can get that gaping hole in your tooth fixed. If your dentist is as awesome as mine, the answer to that is 8am the next morning. So I had an actual "Monday" for the first time in a while, dealing with rush hour traffic to go sit in a dentist chair, getting informed that I need to get a root canal and having a new temporary filling put in. However, again, my dentist is awesome and I dealt with all this while sitting in a cushy chair getting a friggin' *back massage*. That almost made up for not drinking any coffee before I left the house.

Almost.

So yeah, hey, help me out this month? You'll help yourself out in the process because I'll give everyone 15% off their order and you know another box of chocolates really isn't what you want for Valentine's Day. The Denver Dog Killing Machine

Gruesome title, isn't it? However, it's for a good cause. Check out the Facebook group. This is a group of folks dedicated to ending the 21 year old "pitbull" ban here in Denver, CO.

Basically, Denver is the worst place in the US to live if you are, or at least own, an American Pit Bull Terrier (APBT) or any dog that might possibly resemble the breed. So basically, if you have a dog with a short coat, obvious muscles, a blocky head, brindling, cropped ears or an athletic build, you'd better watch your step, because according to the BSL (Breed Specific Legislation) description here, all that makes a dog a "pitbull". In this city, if it looks like a chicken and sounds like a chicken, there's still a chance it might be a duck. And we don't take kindly to no ducks 'round these parts, ya hear?

Under Denver's definition, this Cane Corso is a "pitbull". Luckily, he has papers to prove otherwise.

Denver considers itself a "home-rule" city, which basically means they reserve the right to thumb their noses at the Feds and say "Nyah nyah nyah, you can't make me!" if they don't like or agree with some federal law. In some cases, this isn't necessarily a bad thing. However, when it comes to denying service dogs access to city/county limits because of their breed, it very much becomes A Bad Thing. That's right, Denver is refusing to allow even APBT's in an active service role to set one little pitty paw inside the county without wanting to immediately seize and euthanize it.

I attended a big rally downtown last week, put on by the DDKM. Right now, they're going for small steps in overturning the ban, starting with the ADA exception. There was a rather sizeable crowd gathered, over 100+. Most people had some type of sign, everything from the typical "Ban the deed, not the breed" to photos of their dogs that had been taken and killed.

One person made sure the dogs famous for good reasons got some recognition.
No one can really point to why Denver feels the need to have a draconian ban that rivals Ontario in it's "seize and kill" policy. There wasn't some huge, high-profile bite case. It seems it was a knee-jerk reaction to the case in California back in the 80's that sparked the nationwide trend of breed bans popping up like chicken pox. The sheer amount of funds and manpower being employed to "find illegal dogs" and "dispose" of them was staggering, especially when you consider what better uses it could be going for.

Like finding actual threats to your children...

Now, myself, I'm a herding person. I like Aussies, ACD's, Filas, Border Collies, English Shepherds, etc. However, that doesn't mean that I don't love to play with and snuggle with the other breeds. Sawyer and I have participated in a number of anti-BSL rallys as "Friends to the Bullies".

"Please stop killing my friends."

I've had people ask me before, "you own an Aussie, why do you care what happens to some random pitbull?" Well, because BSL is not just about pitbulls. It's about Rottweilers, Dobermans, Boxers, Chows, German Shepherds, Huskies, Great Danes, etc. etc.

"But but but, those are awesome dogs!" comes the invariable response.

And that's just the point. All those breeds are awesome. They also have been, or are currently, subjected to BSL. In the 50's and 60's, Dobermans and Germans Shepherds were the "Demon Dogs" du jour. The Chows took that dubious distinction in the 70's, along with Shar Peis. In the 80's, the spotlight landed on the APBT and it hasn't shifted since. Because I'm lazy and in the middle of serious mutltitasking, I'm going to quote a note I wrote on Facebook back when the whole Michael Vick (*ptooey!*) thing hit the media.

The dog that eventually became known as the Am. Pit Bull Terrier (ABPT) did have a fairly unsavory past, this is true. However, in the process of creating a dog that would not give up in the face of adversity, these dogs also achieved a level of human tolerance never to be found in another single breed. These dogs had to be handled in the ring in the middle of a fight, oftentimes by strangers. Any dog that turned on a handler was dismissed from the fight and usually killed. No one wanted a dog that bit people. Any form of human aggression was systematically bred out of this breed, leaving it one of the most affectionate and tractable of all the terrier breeds. The ABPT consistently scores the highest on the American Temperment Test, beating out 'typical family breeds' such as Golden Retrievers and Labradors on a regular basis.

These were the dogs that so faithfully served their country during the World Wars that we have a flag from WWI depicting the APBT as the ultimate symbol of courage and perseverance. These dogs were known as "Nanny Dogs" by millions, as their high tolerance for pain made them perfect playmates for younger children prone to pulling on ears, tails or clumsily tripping over the dog during the course of play. These same dogs that would fight in a ring one day were implicitly trusted to watch over the dogmen's children that night and every day there after.

The APBT USED to be a favorite of President's, movie stars and television. Petey from "Our Gang" was an ABPT. The original RCA dog was an ABPT. The most highly decorated soldier in the history of the US Military, for his courage in delivery messages and alerting to the presence of enemies, was an ABPT named Sgt. Stubby.

However, in the last 20 years, PEOPLE have changed the breed. What started off as one isolated incident back in the 80's was picked up, sensationalized to the hilt by the media playing to the public's bloodlust and created this perception that the ABPT was a "vicious, killer dog." As a counterpoint, we are also the same country who believed that American Eskimo dogs were the carrier of rabies and in the 1800's, used to shoot them on sight in the street. This shows that the public, for better or worse, tends to believe what they are told by newspapers and TV (who have sales and ratings to boost) rather than common sense and real-life proof.

This has attracted the least savory elements of our society to the breed, who began to breed for and/or abuse for "meanness", thereby corrupting CENTURIES of careful breeding to the contrary. What was once the safest breed for people to handle has now been crossed with breeds KNOWN to be human aggressive and there now exists a few strains of APBT capable of human aggression, something not before seen and it seems to boil down to "urban culture". I am fully aware there is an element of racism in that statement, however, the facts still stand. THESE are the dogs making the headlines. No one wants to hear about an ABPT flawlessly performing his duties as a Service Dog or bringing comfort to hospice/cancer/nursing home patients as a Therapy Dog. It just doesn't sell.

We now have a country full of people who rush to the doctor to report almost ANY dog bite as a "pitbull bite", who cannot tell the difference between an APBT, a Labrador or a German Shorthair Pointer. The CDC can only report numbers that have been reported to them. The general public will find ways to brush off or justify a bite from almost any other breed out there, causing misleading statistics. Speaking of statistics, when a population contains 500 of one breed and 2 of another, with even one incident being reported for the group of 500 and none for the second, of course the numbers are going to appear skewed. Remember," there are three kinds of lies: lies, **** lies and statistics." --Mark Twain quoting Disraeli.
Even with my lovable, adorable, fluffy Pirate Pants Aussie boy, I've run into issues. When I was looking for an apartment back in KC, I had one of those finder services turn me down because I owned a "shepherd". It didn't matter that I had an Australian Shepherd, that the biggest issue most people have with these guys is the amount of barking they tend to do, that the only thing in common between German Shepherds and Aussies is the fact that they're both herding breeds. My dog was a "Shepherd" and they just weren't going to work with me.

That's what BSL does. It causes stupid problems. It goes after EVERYONE, not just the morons who have no business owning a pet rock, never mind a living, breathing, thinking animal.

"I lurves everbody!"
Luke, his collar and this picture are all property of Rebecca/Ella's Leads

This is a topic I could rant about for hours, if that hasn't already become patently obvious already. I'm not alone in that, even "Shorty" Rossi from Animal Planet's "Pit Boss" made an appearance and speech.

The footage they took that day will air on an episode at some point, but I don't really watch much TV outside of Doctor Who and a couple other shows, so I can't tell you much beyond "check your local listings!"

It's not just people who are upset about this. It's not just dog that are hiding.

"Are they going to come for me next?"

Disapproving Goat disapproves.

Yeah. There was a goat at a dog rally. He's a Nubian cross and just the most chill little guy ever! I've got a picture of me holding him, but you're all reading this to see cute pictures and I don't want to ruin it for everyone.

And he wants you to help overthrow BSL in your area. Because it doesn't matter what the breed, they're all dog and they deserve good owners.

Support dangerous dog ordinances instead! They focus on the individual problem dog and the idiot/oblivious owner, which is how it should be.
